Oxford Make Clean Sweep Of Windsurfing Varsity Matches

Oxford struck back after a period of recent Cambridge domination to win both the Blues and Seconds Oxford Cambridge Windsurfing Varsity Matches 2018 held at Farmoor on Saturday 5th May. It was a perfect early summer day, but the wind unfortunately absented itself for much of the afternoon. In spite of that, and helped somewhat by Cambridge being a man short on each team, Oxford Blues and Seconds scored decisive victories.

Details

In the Blues match Oxford took 1st & 3rd and 1st & 2nd in their races to win 2-0. Racing was closer between the Seconds and the teams tied in the first race after the leading Oxford windsurfer went round the mark the wrong way and failed to recover. Oxford made no mistake in the second race and cruised to a 1, 2, 3 victory. A third race was sailed, mainly because your correspondent proved incapable of scoring the first race correctly. This encounter provided perhaps the best racing of the day - with Oxford just winning in a 1, 4, 5 combination to record a 2½-½ overall victory.
